Sin embargo, tanto su producci\u00f3n&nbsp;como su aplicaci\u00f3n est\u00e1n estrechamente relacionadas con la emisi\u00f3n de gases de efecto invernadero (GEI), lo que contribuye al cambio clim\u00e1tico (Jote, 2023; Pe\u00f1uelas et al., 2023). A su vez, este&nbsp;fen\u00f3meno&nbsp;afecta negativamente la productividad agr\u00edcola, generando un c\u00edrculo dif\u00edcil de romper. En este contexto, los nanofertilizantes emergen como una alternativa prometedora para mejorar la eficiencia en el uso de nutrientes y reducir dichas emisiones (Kumar et al., 2021; Dimkpa et al., 2024).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Los fertilizantes m\u00e1s utilizados son los nitrogenados, fosfatados y pot\u00e1sicos (Yahaya et al., 2023). Entre ellos, los nitrogenados \u2014como la urea\u2014 representan el mayor desaf\u00edo ambiental. Su producci\u00f3n depende de la s\u00edntesis de amon\u00edaco mediante el proceso Haber-Bosch, el cual requiere grandes cantidades de energ\u00eda, generalmente proveniente de combustibles f\u00f3siles, y contribuye significativamente a las emisiones de CO\u2082 a nivel global (Jote, 2023; Pe\u00f1uelas et al., 2023).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Adem\u00e1s, tras su aplicaci\u00f3n en el suelo, los fertilizantes nitrogenados sufren transformaciones microbianas (nitrificaci\u00f3n y desnitrificaci\u00f3n) que liberan \u00f3xido nitroso (N\u2082O), un gas con un potencial de calentamiento global aproximadamente 300 veces mayor que el del CO\u2082. (2023).<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>El c\u00edrculo vicioso entre cambio clim\u00e1tico y agricultura<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">El incremento de GEI intensifica el cambio clim\u00e1tico, lo cual repercute directamente en la agricultura. Por un lado, aumenta la frecuencia de eventos extremos como sequ\u00edas, inundaciones y olas de calor, reduciendo los rendimientos de los cultivos. Por otro lado, se acelera la degradaci\u00f3n del suelo, ya que el aumento de temperatura y los cambios en los patrones de precipitaci\u00f3n favorecen la erosi\u00f3n y la p\u00e9rdida de materia org\u00e1nica (Pe\u00f1uelas et al., 2023).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Asimismo, el cambio clim\u00e1tico altera la actividad microbiana del suelo, modificando la disponibilidad de nutrientes esenciales como el nitr\u00f3geno, lo que afecta directamente la productividad agr\u00edcola (Pe\u00f1uelas et al., 2023; Wang et al., 2023). Como consecuencia, los agricultores tienden a incrementar el uso de fertilizantes para compensar estas p\u00e9rdidas, intensificando a\u00fan m\u00e1s las emisiones y perpetuando este ciclo (Jote, 2023).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Nanofertilizantes: una alternativa emergente<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Los nanofertilizantes representan una tecnolog\u00eda innovadora que busca mejorar la eficiencia en el uso de nutrientes. Estos materiales consisten en nanopart\u00edculas dise\u00f1adas para liberar nutrientes de manera controlada y ser absorbidas con mayor eficacia por las plantas (Kumar et al., 2021; Channab et al., 2024).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Gracias a su tama\u00f1o reducido y mayor superficie de contacto, disminuyen las p\u00e9rdidas de nutrientes por lixiviaci\u00f3n y volatilizaci\u00f3n. A diferencia de los fertilizantes convencionales, pueden liberar nutrientes de forma gradual, lo que contribuye a reducir la emisi\u00f3n de \u00f3xido nitroso (Dimkpa et al., 2024). Adem\u00e1s, su mayor eficiencia implica que se requieren menores cantidades, reduciendo as\u00ed la huella de carbono asociada a su producci\u00f3n y transporte (Kumar et al., 2021; Channab et al., 2024).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Retos y perspectivas<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A pesar de sus ventajas, los nanofertilizantes enfrentan desaf\u00edos importantes. Al tratarse de una tecnolog\u00eda emergente, a\u00fan se requieren m\u00e1s estudios para evaluar sus posibles efectos a largo plazo en los suelos, los cultivos y la salud humana (Channab et al., 2024). Asimismo, es necesario desarrollar marcos regulatorios claros que garanticen su uso seguro y responsable (Dimkpa et al., 2024).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">En este sentido, la nanotecnolog\u00eda aplicada a la agricultura podr\u00eda representar una alternativa prometedora para mitigar el cambio clim\u00e1tico sin comprometer la seguridad alimentaria, siempre que su implementaci\u00f3n est\u00e9 respaldada por evidencia cient\u00edfica s\u00f3lida (Pe\u00f1uelas et al., 2023).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Referencias <\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Channab, B.
